Working on a Baby Blanket

Well - I'm happily starting a new baby blanket. This is a project that will be given away and that I'll be knitting while meeting with a group of knitters from my church. We have decided to meet at a local yarn shop called Spirit WorkKnitting and Designs (I think the name of the shop is fabulous - especially for a group of knitters affiliated with a church! A lucky coincidence). I've chosen a simple pattern from a Leisure Arts book and am using two strands of yarn - white and a multicolor. It knits up soft and pretty. The image doesn't really show off the pattern very well (maybe if you double-click on the image you can see the basket weave effect).

Second Post

This is a photo of a current project - socks - meant to be a gift for my sister-in-law. I have 'til early May to finish up. I should be able to do it....and I think she'll love them. I'm actually trying to match the stripes on the pair. The stripes are pretty small, sometimes not even taking up an entire round so I'm not sure if it will be exact. I usually work on these as I'm listening to podcasts.

The First Post

Hi, my name is Kate and I love to knit. I live in Rochester, New York so I have plenty of opportunity to make roasty-toasty sweaters, socks, bags, vests, hats, mitties (that's Kate-slang for mittens) and other fun things. Besides knitting I am a partner in a local investment management firm. I am the chief compliance officer for our firm. I love to swim and am a member of our local area U.S. Masters Swim Team. That might imply that I'm some sort of expert swimmer, but I'm not. I just like to swim and stay in shape. I'm married, work with my husband and I have a 16 year old son who is a delight. We live with two "fab" cats - I'll get their photos posted at some point - who kindly work around my yarn (most of the time). I set up this blog so I could participate in Secretpals8. I'm psyched. I'll blog again soon.
